BALKAN GRAVEL EXPEDITION

Gravel trials of the Balkans in an Albanian valley
Overview

The Balkan Gravel Expedition is BRV’s flagship adventure — a 10-day, multi-country crossing through some of the most remote and demanding terrain in Europe.

Beginning in Podgorica, Montenegro, the route weaves through Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Albania, linking towering mountain ranges, national parks and forgotten border regions on a journey built from years of exploration and ultra-distance racing experience.

Covering approximately 620 km with over 11,000 metres of elevation, riders experience iconic landscapes including Durmitor National Park, Sutjeska National Park and the Albanian Alps, following routes that simply couldn’t be discovered from a map alone.

This is not a traditional cycling holiday. It is a true expedition built around self-sufficiency, resilience and discovery, with carefully placed support where it genuinely improves the experience without taking away the adventure.

Riders carry only what they need each day while luggage, accommodation logistics and emergency support are managed behind the scenes, preserving the spirit of bikepacking without the unnecessary burden.

Routes are continuously refined and may adapt depending on weather, trail conditions and group capability to ensure the safest and most rewarding experience possible.
