GIRONA GRAVEL EXPEDITION

Overview
Girona Gravel Epic is a journey through the very best of Catalonia and southern France, carefully designed to combine world-class gravel riding with unforgettable places to stay.
Rather than riding loops from a single hotel, every day moves the expedition into a completely different landscape. From Girona's cycling capital to the Mediterranean coast, through French vineyards, across the eastern Pyrenees and back into the heart of Catalonia, the route constantly evolves while maintaining the freedom and spirit of a true bikepacking adventure.
Accommodation is one of the defining features of the expedition, with every overnight stop carefully chosen to become part of the adventure itself rather than simply somewhere to sleep. Guests begin in a premium cycling-friendly hotel in Girona before spending a night beside the Mediterranean, continuing to an extraordinary private château in France, crossing into a mountain lodge near Camprodon and finishing in a spectacular clifftop hotel overlooking one of Catalonia's most dramatic valleys.
With full vehicle support, luggage transfers and local expertise throughout, riders enjoy all the adventure of a multi-day expedition without sacrificing comfort. The result is a tour that feels bigger than its distance—a collection of experiences linked together by some of the finest gravel riding in Europe.
Tour Schedule
Day 1 — Welcome to Girona
Arrive in Girona, build bikes and settle into one of the city's premier cycling hotels. After a short shakeout ride and expedition briefing, enjoy your first evening in Europe's gravel capital.
Day 2 — Mediterranean Escape
Leave Girona on quiet gravel roads towards the Costa Brava, arriving at the spectacular coastline and overnight accommodation overlooking the sea. Relax with exceptional local seafood and watch the sunset over the Mediterranean.
Day 3 — Through the Vineyards into France
Climb away from the coast and cross into France via hidden gravel roads and vineyard-lined valleys before arriving at an exclusive château unlike anywhere else on the route. A memorable evening of great food, local wine and historic surroundings awaits.
Day 4 — The Eastern Pyrenees
Traverse the spine of the eastern Pyrenees on remote roads and mountain gravel before descending into Spain and reaching the welcoming Grevol Hotel near Camprodon. For groups wanting an extra challenge, an optional extension to Vallter 2000 can be incorporated.
Day 5 — Clifftops & Medieval Catalonia
Head south through spectacular scenery towards the dramatic cliffs and valleys around Rupit and Tavertet, finishing the day at one of the most beautiful hotels on the entire expedition with panoramic views across the landscape.
Day 6 — The Gorges & Return to Girona
Leave the mountain village behind and descend towards one of Catalonia's most spectacular hidden landscapes. Skirting the cliffs above the Sau reservoir, the route threads between dramatic limestone walls and turquoise waters before joining one of the region's most iconic gravel sectors through the gorge.
After crossing the dam and emerging from the valley, the terrain opens into Girona's famous flowing gravel roads, linking together quiet tracks, forests and open countryside all the way back to the city. For stronger groups, optional extensions can add further exploration before arriving in Girona for a final celebratory evening, while others can enjoy a more relaxed return and soak up the atmosphere of the old town.
Day 7 — Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast in Girona, pack bikes and reflect on an expedition that has taken you from the Mediterranean coast, through France and across the eastern Pyrenees before returning to Girona via some of Europe's finest gravel riding. Depart with unforgettable memories, new friendships and a genuine sense of adventure completed.
